LATE SHIFT (HELDIN) sweeps the Swiss Film Awards
March 27, 2026, Zurich – Petra Volpe’s LATE SHIFT (HELDIN), which made it onto the Oscars® shortlist as Switzerland’s entry, has been named Best Swiss Feature Film of 2025.
The hit film actually won a total of four awards—in every category in which it was eligible for nomination: In addition to “Best Feature Film,” LATE SHIFT also won “Best Screenplay” (Petra Volpe) and “Best Sound” (Jacques Kieffer, Gina Keller, Marco Teufen). And: For the first time, the Swiss Film Awards also honored the Swiss film with the highest box office attendance. With over 207,000 viewers, this honor went to LATE SHIFT, for which it received the newly created “Box Office Quartz,” the fourth “Award” of the evening.
Following these awards, anticipation is growing even more for Petra Volpe’s latest work, FRANK & LOUIS—her first English-language film featuring an internationally renowned cast, which celebrated its world premiere at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and is set to hit Swiss theaters on October 22. The film explores the previously little-known but globally growing issue of dealing with aging prison inmates and is the first feature film to address the care of inmates in need of nursing care.
